Cross-modality Analysis Using Erp Components

چکیده

In the previous chapter the need for and the importance of crossmodality analysis using the linear ERP method, and nonlinear, fractal methods, such as the DFA and the Hurst exponent were given. The current chapter focuses on the analysis of the EEG using ERP components, and bringing out the parameters for understanding the existence and absence of cross-modal plasticity in blind and normal subjects respectively.

ERP evidence for cross-modal audiovisual effects of endogenous spatial attention within hemifields.

Previous ERP studies have uncovered cross-modal interactions in endogenous spatial attention. Directing attention to one side to judge stimuli from one particular modality can modulate early modality-specific ERP components not only for that modality, but also for other currently irrelevant modalities. However, past studies could not determine whether the spatial focus of attention in the task-...

Title: a High-density Erp Study Reveals Latency, Amplitude, and Topographical Reilly (ebiomed: Ehealthcare Based on Biomedical Signal Processing and Ict for Integrated Diagnosis and Treatment of Disease)

Objective. To quantify latency, amplitude and topographical differences in event-related potential (ERP) components between multiple sclerosis (MS) patients and controls and to compare ERP findings with results from the paced auditory serial addition test (PASAT). Methods. Fifty-four subjects (17 relapsing remitting (RRMS) patients, 16 secondary progressive (SPMS) patients, and 21 controls) com...

Effectiveness of Exposure/Response Prevention Plus Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing in Improve Cognitive Components in Patients with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder and Life Stressful Experiences: A Randomized Controlled Trial

Introduction: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of Exposure/Response Prevention (ERP) combined with Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) as a treatment for obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) patients who experienced stressful life events (SLEs), by comparison to ERP. Methods: This randomized controlled trial was conducted on 60 OCD patients who experienced SLEs and wer...

Gaze-independent ERP-BCIs: augmenting performance through location-congruent bimodal stimuli

Gaze-independent event-related potential (ERP) based brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) yield relatively low BCI performance and traditionally employ unimodal stimuli. Bimodal ERP-BCIs may increase BCI performance due to multisensory integration or summation in the brain. An additional advantage of bimodal BCIs may be that the user can choose which modality or modalities to attend to. We studied ...

Event-related brain potentials during auditory and visual word recognition memory tasks.

Event-related brain potentials (ERPs) recorded during presentation of a series of words or pictures show enhanced positivity between 300 and 800 ms after presentation of repeated items. However, little attention has been directed to the characterization of this ERP recognition memory effect using auditory stimuli. The present study directly compared the ERP 'old/new effect' for words presented ...
